


Taking STEM education further: Rice expands low-cost health care solutions workshops for local teens
More than 20 high school students participated in Rice’s Innovator Spotlight workshop, which is a continuation of a summer program where the same students looked to change the future of health care through low-cost solutions.

Nuestra Herencia: A vibrant celebration of Latine Heritage Month at Rice
Rice celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month Sept. 29 with a vibrant afternoon of music and dance at the Rice Memorial Center’s Grand Hall. The event, titled Nuestra Herencia — meaning "Our Heritage" — showcased lively performances from Rice Salseros, Rice Zouk, Los Buhos del Norte, the Academy of Folklore and Latin Rhythms and Mariachi Luna Llena.


Rice builds community during National Night Out
Rice celebrated National Night Out Oct. 1 in the Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center courtyard. Many campus organizations like Rice Emergency Medical Services, the Wellbeing and Counseling Center and the Rice Police Department were joined by the Houston Police Department to welcome hundreds of Owls and community members for food, games and to learn about the many resources provided by the attending groups.

A family affair: Rice hosts fun, festivities and football for Families Weekend
Rice hosted Families Weekend Sept. 27-28, and over the course of the 48-hour period, parents, families and loved ones got an inside look at the unique Rice experience through engaging lectures, campus tours, a family tailgate for the Owls’ football game and much more.


Rice simplifies voter registration process before Oct. 7 deadline
Rice knows the importance of voting, but before a ballot may be cast, the individual must be registered to vote. Campus partners have joined together to make registration as seamless as possible by Texas’ Oct. 7 deadline.


Rice kicks off Latine Heritage Month with festivities, food
Rice’s Grand Hall was boisterously filled with students, music and festivities as the university began its many celebrations as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Themed “Latine Heritage Month,” the festivities include programming across campus through Oct. 17 that spotlight the pride, passion and progress of Latine communities while also acknowledging the ongoing work toward greater recognition, representation and empowerment.

Native plants and trees add character, color to Rice quad
With last week’s unveiling of Rice’s redesigned Academic Quadrangle came the introduction of a few new residents — the 42 species of plants that are breathing new life into the biodiversity at this beloved campus hub.

Rice offers flu and COVID-19 vaccines over four days at RMC
Rice will provide on-site flu vaccinations to all faculty, staff and students. The vaccines will be offered in the Rice Memorial Center.

Rice partners with Validity to streamline degree verification
Rice has taken a significant step forward in enhancing the efficiency and security of its degree verification process by partnering with Validity. Validity offers a novel approach to academic credential verification through a platform integrated directly with the Office of the Registrar's website.
