Campus parking citation recipients get second chance for relief

Campus parking tickets are a bit easier to manage... at least this week. Student Success Initiatives, the Rice University Police Department and the Rice Parking Office invite the campus community to pay off unpaid campus parking fines with donations of food and hygiene product donations. All donations will go to The Pantry.
Shepherd School concert honors Larry Rachleff

More than 500 students, faculty, staff and friends gathered at Stude Concert Hall to remember Rachleff, who died Aug. 8 of non-Hodgkin lymphoma at the age of 67. The evening included a celebratory reception, a video tribute recorded by former students and colleagues, and, befittingly, an orchestral concert to pay tribute to the educator.

Two Rice alums were welcomed back to campus last week by Rice University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at “Pioneers of Innovation: A Fireside Chat.” Maxfield and Walter Loewenstern ’58 ’59 engaged in a discussion moderated by Edward Knightly, the Sheafor-Lindsay Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a professor of computer science.
Walker honored by Rice Board of Trustees upon retirement

Rice University’s Board of Trustees recently recognized Anne Walker for her upcoming retirement after more than 15 years of service in the Office of Financial Aid. Walker, the outgoing assistant vice president and executive director of university financial aid services, is a nationally recognized leader in her field and an advocate for making a college education accessible to low- and middle-income families.
