A: 1.5 years.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for the university?
A: The ability, and encouragement, to collaborate with a wide variety of colleagues across different departments.
Q: What do you want people to know about living in Houston?
A: There are so many delicious restaurants, engaging museums and fun festivals and events happening around the city every day, so make time to explore when you can.
Q: What do you do in your downtime?
A: Explore museums and try out new restaurants with my fiancé.
Q: What’s your favorite spot on campus to show someone?
A: I love showing them all the trees and visiting Rice Coffeehouse.
Q: What’s the most exciting time of year for you as it relates to Rice?
A: I love April when the campus is abuzz with events celebrating Earth Month!
Q: What’s the one thing that makes Rice special to you?
A: I love how important relationships are at Rice and how quickly everyone works to make you feel welcome and valued. As a newer employee, the Rice family made the transition to a new job in a new city so much easier.
Q: If you could be Sammy The Owl for a day, what would you do?
A: I would gather as many Owls as possible to join me for a day of volunteering in Hermann Park to enjoy nature and give back to our community.
Q: How would you describe your experience as a Rice employee?
A: Coming to Rice was an unexpected professional transition, but it has been an absolutely transformative experience. Everyone I have encountered has worked to make sure I feel integrated into our community and that I have the resources and support necessary to excel at my position.
Q: Where do you see Rice in 25 years?
A: I see Rice as a sustainability pioneer, trailblazing innovation solutions and utilizing our campus and city as a test bed for new ideas to better our planet and communities.
