Ostherr receives NEH grant to explore computational health through humanities lens
Kirsten Ostherr, the Gladys Louise Fox Professor of English and director of the new Medical Humanities Research Institute at Rice, received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to advance her work on the role of visual representation in the history of computational health.

Shonik Ganjoo has spent his time as president of the Rice Doctors for Change chapter — in between the commitments that come with being a biosciences major and an anthropology minor — researching and advocating for immigrant health equity. He and the chapter’s vice president, Ritesh Dontula have been creating opportunities for Rice students to interact with Texas legislators on real-world issues.

English chair Ostherr gives lecture in Berlin in honor of Marshall Plan’s 75th anniversary
Kirsten Ostherr — the Gladys Louise Fox Professor and Chair of the Department of English, and director of both Rice’s medical humanities program and the Medical Futures Lab — was invited by the U.S. Embassy in Berlin to give a lecture July 13 at the Benjamin Franklin campus of the city’s Charité hospital, one of the largest university hospitals in Europe.
