Alyssa Cahoy, a senior Health Sciences student in the Department of Kinesiology, won the Morehouse College Project Imhotep Public Health Leadership Award during her summer internship at the Atlanta program. Project Imhotep is part of the CDC Undergraduate Public Health Scholars Program, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to increase the knowledge and skills of underrepresented minority students in biostatistics, epidemiology and occupational safety and health. Cahoy, vice chair of the Rice Student Association’s Wellbeing Committee, received an iPad and a cash award with the honor, and was chosen to serve as an ambassador to connect with other program alumni and to speak with prospective participants. She also majors in English and minors in Medical Humanities.
