The rapid growth of cannabis products in Texas, combined with growing consumer safety concerns, has led some lawmakers to propose a ban on the hemp industry. However, experts from Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy say this approach is unlikely to effectively reduce access to products or improve public safety.

The Houston Branch board consists of seven members, four appointed by the Dallas Fed and three appointed by the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in Washington, D.C.

Tommy Pan Fang, assistant professor of strategic management at Rice, has been named to Poets&Quants’ list of 50 Best Undergraduate Professors. Pan Fang was chosen from among 1,000 nominations, and at age 30, he is one of the youngest professors on the list, which represents 43 schools, including five international institutions.
