Landscape architect to host informational event on Academic Quad redesign

As part of the next phase of the redesign of Rice’s Academic Quadrangle, President Reginald DesRoches and Nelson Byrd Woltz (NBW), the landscape architect design team leading the project, are inviting students to attend an informational event in the quad March 9 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake Feb. 6 that has caused over 30,000 deaths and widespread destruction in Turkey and neighboring Syria, Rice University’s Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is embracing its mission to foster international connections by coordinating an effort with student groups including the Turkish Student Association to raise funds and gather crucial supplies for those affected by the natural disaster.

Kamryn Sanamo, a sports medicine and exercise physiology major and member of Rice University’s Martel College, died Thursday evening following a battle with brain cancer. She was 21 years old.
