Landscape architect to host informational event on Academic Quad redesign

Rice community rallies to aid Turkey, Syria after catastrophic earthquake

Following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake Feb. 6 that has caused over 30,000 deaths and widespread destruction in Turkey and neighboring Syria, Rice University’s Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) is embracing its mission to foster international connections by coordinating an effort with student groups including the Turkish Student Association to raise funds and gather crucial supplies for those affected by the natural disaster.

Brown Forensics Society, the university’s award-winning student speech and debate team with a track record of racking up championships and awards by the dozens. After tremendous success amid the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, including two national championships in as many years, the team’s penchant for top-tier performances has continued this fall alongside a much welcomed return to in-person competition.
