Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music will present Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin,” Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Morrison Theater at Brockman Hall for Opera . The romantic work is helmed by director Paul Curran with conductor Stephanie Rhodes Russell and the Shepherd School Chamber Orchestra under the tutelage of Joshua Winograde, director of opera studies.

Acclaimed conductor Robert Spano, music director of the Aspen Music Festival and School and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, will take the Stude Concert Hall stage later this month to kick off the Rice University Shepherd School of Music’s 2023-24 season as he leads the university's chamber orchestra Sept. 28 and its symphony orchestra Sept. 29-30. All three concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m.

HOUSTON – (Aug. 31, 2023) – For the first time in the Shepherd School of Music’s history, a comprehensive listing of key performances is being announced today to coincide with the release of a new season brochure and redesigned events website. The Shepherd School has collected guest artists from around the globe to perform and teach this season, joining the existing ranks of renowned artists already among the faculty.
