Miguel Harth-Bedoya to lead Rice Shepherd School symphony, chamber orchestras March 2-3

Miguel Harth-Bedoya, music director laureate of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and director of orchestral studies at Baylor University, will lead the Rice Shepherd School of Music symphony and chamber orchestras March 2 and 3, respectively.

Students from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music performed short musical excerpts and received coaching from members of the Balourdet Quartet during a Jan. 23 master class in Stude Concert Hall. The dynamic ensemble received Chamber Music America’s 2024 Cleveland Quartet and the Grand Prize at the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, as well as top prizes in international competitions.

Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music will present Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin,” Nov. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Morrison Theater at Brockman Hall for Opera . The romantic work is helmed by director Paul Curran with conductor Stephanie Rhodes Russell and the Shepherd School Chamber Orchestra under the tutelage of Joshua Winograde, director of opera studies.
