Rain doesn’t dampen KTRU’s annual Outdoor Show as bands heat up inside Grand Hall
Rice’s radio station, KTRU, recently hosted its 33rd annual Outdoor Show. The show is a free, all-day music festival traditionally held in the Central Quad, although inclement weather forced the program to move inside the Grand Hall at Rice Memorial Center.
Rice is gearing up for Election Day on campus Nov. 5.

For the last 30 years, KTRU-LP 96.1 FM, Rice University’s student-run radio station, has hosted a springtime music festival on the tree-lined campus that’s always free and open to the public. Its 31st annual Outdoor Show on April 15 will once again take place all afternoon and into the evening on the grassy Central Quad off Alumni Drive, featuring a diverse and talented array of Texas acts.

Evelyn Tang, an assistant professor of physics and astronomy and a member of Rice University’s Center for Theoretical Biological Physics, is one of 17 early-career researchers to receive a $50,000 award in the inaugural year of the Scialog: Molecular Basis of Cognition initiative, which will begin with a conference Oct. 12-15 in Tucson, Arizona.
