Four Rice students took the top prize and $2,000 in cash at the University of Houston’s Undergraduate Commodity Competition Sept. 9. The event allows undergraduate students from across the nation to demonstrate their proficiency in commodity knowledge and investment research and present to a panel of judges from top firms in Houston.

This month, the online MBA program at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business celebrates five years since matriculating its first cohort of students. The online MBA has become the fastest growing program at the business school since its launch in 2018.
Magnetic gear tech company wins 2023 Rice Business Plan Competition

FluxWorks from Texas A&M University, a magnetic gear technology company, took home the grand prize at the 2023 Rice Business Plan Competition (RBPC). The RBPC, hosted annually by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business, is the world’s largest and richest student startup competition. This year’s edition saw 42 startups competing for $3.4 million in prizes – the highest in the 23 years of the event. More than 80 prizes were awarded and every team took home cash.
Jeans-sizing software company wins 2023 NRLC championship

Goldie took home the top prize with its fit-finding software for women’s jeans at the April 19 H. Albert Napier Rice Launch Challenge (NRLC) championship. The NRLC is Rice’s new venture competition, where its undergraduate, graduate and MBA students can pitch their businesses to win a share of $100,000 in equity-free funding.
