Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business will host a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 112,000-square-foot building designed to accommodate unprecedented growth at the school and the evolving needs of the community.

During two days of festivities May 3-4, Rice University’s Class of 2024 graduates celebrated the culmination of their experiences on South Main while also looking forward to the bright futures that await them.

In September 2023, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona issued a warning call stating “Public schools are approaching a ‘make or break moment.’” This week, several North Texas schools announced potential school closures and staff position eliminations. Nationally, public schools lost over 1.2 million students to private and charter schools over the first two school years of the COVID-19 pandemic with Texas witnessing a 2.2% decline.

Stuart Weitzman – best known for his iconic, A-list shoe brand – spoke at Rice Business’ Shell auditorium Feb. 12 about his work and career. Rice Vice President for Innovation Paul Cherukuri opened the event introducing Weitzman as a world renowned “innovator, a founder and entrepreneur.”

 Rice University and its Biotech Launch Pad today announced a peer-reviewed publication in Nature Communications detailing the development of a novel and rechargeable device — an electrocatalytic on-site oxygenator (ecO2) that produces oxygen to keep cells alive inside an implantable “living pharmacy,” potentially improving the outcomes of cell-based therapies.

The full-time on-campus Master of Business Administration program from Rice’s Jones Graduate School of Business ranks No. 18 in the country, according to new 2024 rankings from Poets&Quants. The school rose 11 spots since 2023. This latest ranking makes Rice Business the No. 1 business school in Texas, according to Poets and Quants.

Rice’s Jones Graduate School of Business ranks No. 6 nationally for its online Master of Business Administration program, according to Poets and Quants rankings released today. MBA@Rice is the fastest-growing program at the business school since its launch in 2018.
