Rice EMS honors student volunteers for lifesaving rescue

Rice Emergency Medical Services gathered for its annual Fall Study Break Nov. 3 where student volunteers enjoyed games, food and swag items as a way to relax between midterms and finals. While the event is meant to thank students for their commitment to the service, this year’s gathering took on a special meaning. During the festivities, the organization recognized the recent lifesaving efforts of several of its members.
Inaugural Community Market connects Rice alumni business owners

Rice University hosted its inaugural Community Market during Alumni Weekend, the largest annual alumni event on campus. Between 8:30-11 a.m. Nov. 4, 24 vendors filled the Greenbriar lot as Rice alumni business owners sold products, generated awareness of their businesses and networked with each other.
Rice students ‘soar together’ thanks to donors’ generosity

Rice University recently welcomed donors and scholarship recipients to the Moody Center for the Arts for “Soaring Together,” a reception celebrating the generosity of the Rice community and the transformational impact of scholarship endowments.

Kesem at Rice holds team-bonding ‘Olympics’

Kesem at Rice threw an outdoor competition-themed social to enjoy the fall weather and inspire team-bonding among its many volunteers. The festivities, held on a knoll outside Brochstein Pavilion, included games like cup stacking, face the cookie, spoon-and-egg races and tug of war.
Rice helping study how soil health improvement can boost crops

America’s farmers rely on a host of practices such as cover cropping and crop rotation to maintain soil health, grow more productive crops and feed the U.S. and countries around the world. However, current research is too sparse to precisely demonstrate how these practices can actually affect the yields and bottom line for farmers.
