Illuminating heritage: SEAPI Night at Rice grows bigger in second year

Rice’s Vietnamese Student Association and Thai Student Association hosted the second annual Southeast Asian and Pacific Islander Night themed “A Thousand Lanterns” Nov. 21. This student-led celebration offered more than just a showcase; it created a luminous affirmation of community, identity and belonging through a diverse night market reminiscent of the bustling night markets seen in southeast Asia that complemented a colorful performance showcase.

Chabad at Rice hosted an emotional event Oct. 29 titled “An evening with former hostage Omer Shem Tov: A story of hope and strength,” marking two years since the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel. Owls and community members gathered to honor those lost and to celebrate the strength of faith that continues to unite the Jewish community.

Rice caps off Hispanic Heritage Month with food, dance, festivities

As Hispanic Heritage Month closed, Rice welcomed guests for a festive dance and food celebration Oct. 15 to capstone the month. With Ballet Folklorico Sol de San Antonio and Mariachi Luna Llena as the special guests, the day was filled with colorful outfits, spirited dancing and a menu that nourished both the body and spirit.

Graduate and prospective graduate students take part in a hands-on session during the STaRT@Rice program, which offered training in statistical methods, data visualization and other research tools.
