Rice announces Jeremy Zucker as Moody X-Fest headliner

Jeremy Zucker

Rice University will welcome Jeremy Zucker as the headline music act at the second annual Moody X-Fest April 19 at Founder’s Court. The signature event will include free food, swag and games at this rain-or-shine celebration.

Zucker is a singer-songwriter and producer known for his fusion of introspective lyrics with pop music. His music leans on conversation-starting lyricism and intimate sonic architecture as the bedrock of his distinct sound.

In 2015, he released his first EP “Beach Island.” His breakout single, “comethru,” was part of a summer 2018 EP and quickly gained popularity on various platforms. His debut album, “love is not dying,” was released in April 2020.

His music boasts more than 10 billion global streams and has sold more than 4.5 million albums. Zucker also wrapped a North American tour in 2023.

“I’m pleased that Jeremy Zucker, the students’ first choice for a headline act, will perform at this year’s Moody X-Fest, and I’m grateful for those who work hard to make this annual event possible,” said Amy Dittmar, Howard R. Hughes Provost and executive vice president for academic affairs.

This year’s food vendors include The DoughCone, Dripped Birria, OhMyGogi!, Pudgy’s Fine Cookies, Raising Cane’s and Wokker HTX. There will also be performances from student groups, including Basmati Beats and Rice Lions as the opening acts for Zucker with more to be confirmed.

Beyond the hallmark festival April 19, Moody X-Fest has expanded to include more activities this year. Inquiry Weeks, a campuswide series of events celebrating ongoing research, design and creative works by Rice students, will run April 9-23. It spans 16 individual events across natural sciences, social sciences, engineering, humanities, music, civic leadership, creative writing and more.

In addition, Moody X-Fest will continue the celebration via a partnership with Rice Athletics as Rice baseball takes on the University of Alabama at Birmingham April 12-14 and for the J. Fred Duckett Twilight Track and Field Meet April 20.

Moody X-Fest was created in celebration of the Moody Foundation’s historic $100 million gift to the university. In 2021, the Moody Foundation made an extraordinary commitment to Rice to build a student center and to create 12 endowments under the Moody Experience umbrella. It was the largest single gift in the university’s history.

This commitment supports many aspects of education beyond the classrooms, spanning civic leadership, study abroad, summer research, wellness programs and more.

Since 1964, the Moody Foundation has contributed over $125 million to Rice.
