Hans Graf returns to Houston to lead Rice Shepherd School Symphony Oct. 27

Grammy Award-winning conductor and former Houston Symphony music director Hans Graf will return to Houston Oct. 27 to guest conduct the Rice Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra in an exhilarating musical program titled “Fire and Ice,”featuring the work of Scriabin, Sibelius and Stravinsky.

Monks from the Gaden Shartse monastery in India started creating a sand mandala with accompanying rituals today at the Moody Center for the Arts. The mandala will be on view through Oct. 20, when a dissolution ritual will be performed.

Approximately 200 members of the Rice University community, including Rice President Reginald DesRoches and Provost Amy Dittmar, gathered Oct. 11 in solidarity with the campus’ Jewish students, faculty and staff at an evening vigil for Israel, held at Ray Courtyard outside the Rice Memorial Center.
