Shruti Kashinath arrived at Rice University from Bengaluru, India with a clear focus and a global horizon.
Drawn to the university’s top-ranked bioengineering program, she enrolled in the Master of Bioengineering program and completed her degree in 2011. At the time, Rice was ranked among the top 10 programs in biomedical engineering and a trusted mentor had encouraged her to apply. Shruti completed the program in just a year and a half, immersing herself in research and rigorous coursework that would shape her professional path.
“It was an enriching experience overall,” Kashinath said. “Maybe the only thing I would’ve done differently, in retrospect, is to have a slightly longer masters program.”
Today, Kashinath serves as a regulatory affairs leader at Siemens Healthineers, where she heads a team overseeing a portfolio of software medical devices. With more than a decade of experience across regulatory, quality, clinical and research roles, she works at the intersection of innovation and patient care, helping bring advanced diagnostic imaging technologies to market.
As Rice expands its global footprint through Rice Global India, Kashinath sees meaningful opportunities to connect alumni expertise with India’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem.
“I would be very happy to explore synergies between the Rice alumni network and startups in India where we can provide support to early stage companies that are emerging in our areas of expertise,” Kashinath said.
For Kashinath, the spirit of collaboration that first drew her to Rice continues to guide her work, now on an international scale.
