Q: How long have you worked at Rice?
A: I just hit my three-year anniversary.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for the university?
A: Connecting with our students and staff. We welcome students from all over the world, and being their first point of contact is incredibly rewarding,especially helping ease their transition to a new country. Plus, everyone across campus is so approachable. Even with remote colleagues I only know through email, there is a great sense of mutual support.
Q: What do you want people to know about living in Houston?
A: We aren't a walkable city, but the incredible food selection makes up for the traffic. There are also so many beautiful parks around town. You might have to drive a bit to get there, but the scenery is worth it.
Q: What do you do in your downtime?
A: Currently, trying out cycling and pilates, but my actual obsession is building Legos.
Q: What's the most exciting time of year for you as it relates to Rice?
A: O-Week. It's so exciting to finally meet the new students in person and put a face to the names I've been emailing for months.
Q: What advice would you give to new employees?
A: Don't be afraid to reach out to other departments for help. We've all been in your shoes, and we understand how anxious it can be to be the new person. Everyone here is genuinely helpful and willing to lend a hand.
Q: What's your favorite memory from your time with Rice?
A: Going mini-golfing for the Engineering Staff Council outing. It was a great chance to let loose and connect with colleagues. I didn't win best mini-golfer, but I had a wonderful time.

A: Community, supportive, hidden gem.
