Q: What is your favorite part about working for the university?
A: I’ve been able to maintain a healthy work-life balance thanks to Rice’s supportive workplace culture.
Q: What do you want people to know about living in Houston?
A: Plan your route with the Waze app. There is always traffic. Pack your patience.
Q: What do you do in your downtime?
A: I am a mother of two very busy teen girls with completely different activities and schedules, so there is no free time. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Q: What’s the most exciting time of year for you as it relates to Rice?
A: I enjoy the beginning of the new academic year and seeing all the students’ excited new faces. It serves as a reminder to be equally excited about a new year full of opportunities and possibilities.
Q: What advice would you give to new employees?
A: Rice values collaboration and open communication. Do not be afraid to use your voice to share your ideas or ask for help.
Q: What’s your favorite memory from your time with Rice?
A: My favorite memory is from taking part in the fifth cohort of a yearlong organizational leadership development program. It enabled me to get away from my computer and interact with 29 other participants from various departments across campus. This experience enabled me to make friends with colleagues I may not have met otherwise.
