Q: How long have you worked at Rice?
A: Two years.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for the university?
A: I really enjoy the people I work with. They are all such a joy to be around and get to chat with on a daily basis. We are a team that really cheers on each other’s successes no matter how big or small, which I really appreciate.
Q: What do you do in your downtime?
A: I have completed over 100 pilates classes in the last year. I try to go every day.
Q: What’s the most exciting time of year for you as it relates to Rice?
A: I love the fall season at Rice. Crisp air, football games and Alumni Weekend. What’s not to like?
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: Meeting Rice Alumni who are so kind all over the country. I truly love connecting with our alumni. Every time I meet them, I have one of those “I love my job” moments shaped by the unique experiences our office and alumni create together.
Q: What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?
A: I am a big coffee snob, so I love to try new coffee spots around Houston. Right now, my favorite spot is TwoTone in Memorial.
Q: Would you share a bit about your background and career journey?
A: I’m originally from the Washington D.C. area and have lived in Houston the last three years and absolutely love it.
Q: If you could be Sammy The Owl for a day, what would you do?
A: Host a yoga class in the Quad. Sammy goes Zen.
