The Rice University Police Department (RUPD) partnered with the Children’s Assessment Center (CAC) to sponsor 14 families for its 13th annual Operation Blue Santa. All donated items were wrapped and hand delivered Dec. 18.
The CAC provides a professional, compassionate and coordinated approach to the treatment of sexually abused children and their families.
“The Rice community made a significant impact for the children and families receiving the gifts this holiday season,” said Maritza Lopez, criminal investigation division sergeant and donation coordinator. “It’s heartwarming to extend Rice’s culture of care beyond the hedges and into the community with this meaningful tradition.”
Throughout the drive, RUPD set up collection areas at the RUPD station, Fondren Library, the campus post office, the BioScience Research Collaborative, the dean of engineering’s office in Duncan Hall and Rice Children’s Campus.
