Rice experts available to discuss new federal AI task force

Following President Donald Trump’s announcement of the “Super Intelligence Force” artificial intelligence task force, Rice University experts can address AI governance and technical capabilities.

AI governance and ethics

Rodrigo Ferreira, associate dean for technology and responsibility and associate teaching professor of computer science
Ferreira’s expertise includes AI policy, accountability and responsible technology. His research focuses on technology and ethics, including international cooperation on AI governance through Rice’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.

AI development and technical capabilities

Anshumali Shrivastava, professor of computer science, electrical and computer engineering and statistics
Shrivastava specializes in large-scale machine learning and scalable, sustainable deep learning. He leads a Rice generative AI research cluster examining how large language models can manage larger knowledge bases while addressing computational costs, hallucinations and explainability.
