Rice celebrates Pride Month with campuswide events

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month, and Rice University, along with campus partners and affiliates, will host a variety of events throughout the month to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, foster inclusion and awareness and promote understanding of sexual and gender diversity.

The 48th annual Houston Pride Parade will be held June 6, and Rice will join the parade as it weaves through downtown. This year Rice junior D. Fitzgerald was named a Houston Pride Parade Trendsetter Grand Marshal. The parade steps off at 7:30 p.m.

June 11, 5-7 p.m. - Pride Happy Hour, Moody Center for the Arts

Join headliner Ben Chavez for a lively piano-and-song performance following an opening set by DJ Rosez. Guests ages 21 and older can enjoy complimentary cocktails crafted by the Moody Café chefs while exploring exhibitions by Masako Miki and the artist duo Nick Vaughan and Jake Margolin on view in the galleries. June 25, 68 p.m. - Intercollegiate Pride Mixer, JR's Bar & Grill (808 Pacific Street)

The Intercollegiate Pride Mixer will bring together LGBTQ+ alumni, allies and friends from across universities. Attendees are invited to connect, celebrate and build community at the in-person gathering. The mixer is open to all with no requirement for affiliation with a specific alumni network or institution. June 26, 5-9 p.m. - Rice Queer GSA Pride Picnic

The annual Rice Queer GSA Pride Picnic will be held in the Graduate Student Outdoor Commons located next to Valhalla. Enjoy drag, free food and drinks. More information is available on Queer GSA's Instagram.
