Rice University President Reginald DesRoches and Kelly Fox, executive vice president for operations, finance and support, greeted employees who have opted to participate in the Voluntary Separation Incentive Program March 27 in the Baker Institute for Public Policy’s Dore Commons. The event recognized and honored employees for their many contributions to the university.
“You’ve helped build a community rooted in excellence, care and purpose,” DesRoches said. “You have made a real difference in the lives of countless people who walk across campus every day, even though you may not know that. On behalf of the entire university, I want to express my deep appreciation for everything you have given to Rice.”
Fox shared similar gratitude for the employees’ generosity and dedication.
“I’m so happy for all of you; what a great opportunity, and I’m so pleased that all of you were able to make this decision and be able to embark on this next chapter in your life,” Fox said. “So much of the heart and so much of the soul of the university is really coming from the work that you all have done day in and day out.”
In total, nearly 240 employees chose to participate in the program. Thirty-seven employees departed Sept. 30; 47 departed Dec. 31; and 155 departed March 31.
