Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies continues to expand access to global professional education through its ongoing partnership with Tecnológico de Monterrey, offering project management certificate programs in Spanish for working professionals seeking to strengthen their leadership and technical skills.

Through the partnership established in 2023, the two universities aim to deepen joint research, create cross-border study and cultural experiences and develop innovative, bilingual workforce programs that serve both the Houston and Monterrey communities. This includes concurrent doctoral degrees in engineering and the natural sciences, a dual Master of Engineering Management and Leadership and expanded continuing and professional education initiatives, such as the new project management offerings.
“Strategic alliances between great universities are only meaningful when they translate into real opportunities for people. This collaboration with Rice University does exactly that — extending world-class professional education to Spanish-speaking learners who are ready to take on greater challenges and shape the future of their industries," said Victor Gutiérrez Aladro, vice president for lifelong learning and future education at Tecnológico de Monterrey Education Group.
Designed for flexibility, the self-paced project management programs help participants build expertise in project strategy, agile methods, team coordination and operational efficiency — preparing them to lead complex initiatives and deliver measurable results within their organizations.
“The Glasscock School of Continuing Studies is honored to launch this new Project Management Certification in collaboration with our colleagues at Tecnológico de Monterrey, expanding high-quality professional education completely in Spanish,” said Robert Bruce, dean of the Glasscock School. “This program reflects our shared commitment to developing agile, strategically minded professionals and demonstrates how two globally focused institutions can work together to open new pathways for career advancement in Houston, Mexico and beyond.”
The suite of offerings includes multiple stackable credentials tailored to different roles and experience levels:
- Project Manager Professional (TLG) Certification, focused on tools, techniques and leadership skills for delivering high-impact projects
- Agile Project Leader (TLG) Certification, emphasizing agile frameworks, roles and adaptive ways of working
- Project Management Officer (TLG) Certification, centered on resource optimization, software tools and operational integration
- Project Team Member (TLG) Certification, covering foundational project management principles and team effectiveness
Through its collaboration with Tecnológico de Monterrey, one of Latin America’s leading universities, the Glasscock School broadens access to high-quality professional development for Spanish-speaking learners while strengthening Rice’s international engagement. The partnership reflects the university’s strategic vision and its emphasis on global impact through expanded educational opportunities.
Professionals across industries can enroll throughout the year and complete coursework on a schedule that fits their needs.
