OpenStax, Rice University’s initiative to make education more affordable and accessible to all learners, announced an expansion of its existing partnership with Kendall Hunt Publishing Co. Building on Kendall Hunt’s role as OpenStax’s official print partner, this collaboration expands the relationship to include the Kendall Hunt K-12 division as a curriculum partner, adapting OpenStax’s openly licensed social studies textbooks for enhanced impact in high school classrooms.

The social studies collection, which represents a selection of existing OpenStax titles, includes “American Government 4e,” “Psychology 2e,” “U.S. History, Principles of Economics 3e,” “Macroeconomics 3e,” “Microeconomics 3e,” “World History Volume 1: to 1500,” “World History Volume 2: from 1400” and “Writing Guide with Handbook.” The adapted materials will include comprehensive student and teacher resources designed to support classroom instruction and enhance student engagement. These classroom-ready materials will provide educators with practical instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners with the potential for future professional development opportunities to further support effective implementation.
