Kinder Institute’s State of Housing report examines housing affordability in Houston and Harris County

Rice University’s Kinder Institute’s 2026 State of Housing in Harris County and Houston, now in its seventh year, will be released June 16. 

Increasingly, income is not keeping up with the rising costs of housing. The impact this is having on the region is one of the findings to be discussed during a free webinar hosted by Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research.

The institute’s 2026 State of Housing in Harris County and Houston, now in its seventh year, will be released June 16.

The webinar will take place from 10-11 a.m. The report offers a comprehensive look at regional affordability, moving beyond home prices to examine rental and homeownership trends, demographic shifts and the growing burden of insurance costs. The report highlights where needs are greatest and where strategic solutions can have the most impact.
