Rice University President Reginald DesRoches and Kelly Fox, executive vice president for operations, finance and support, greeted employees who have opted to participate in the Voluntary Separation Incentive Program Dec. 18 in the Grand Hall, recognizing the employees for their contributions.
“You’ve helped build a community rooted in excellence, care and purpose,” DesRoches said. “You have made a real difference in the lives of countless people who walk across campus every day, even though you may not know that. On behalf of the entire university, I want to express my deep appreciation for everything you have given to Rice. We are grateful not only for the years you dedicated here but also for your pride, professionalism and generosity of time and spirit every day. The work you have done truly does matter, has strengthened our momentum and helped position Rice for the next chapter of growth and impact.”
Fox shared similar thankfulness for the employees’ generosity and devotion.
“I’m so happy for all of you; what a great opportunity, and I’m so pleased that all of you were able to make this decision and be able to embark on this next chapter in your life,” Fox said. “So much of the heart and so much of the soul of the university is really coming from the work that you all have done day in and day out.”
In total, nearly 240 employees chose to participate in the program. Thirty-seven employees departed Sept. 30; 47 will depart Dec. 31; 155 will depart March 31, 2026.
