In recognition of the outstanding contributions of Rice University staff members, the Rice Staff Council is calling for nominations for the 2026 Rice Staff Excellence Award.

Established in 2024, the award celebrates the achievements of five full-time Rice staff members who exemplify the university’s core values of responsibility, integrity, community and excellence and make a positive impact to the Rice community. Nominations are due by 11:59 p.m. Feb. 13.

“Our staff help Rice thrive every day, and it’s a privilege for Staff Council to spotlight the remarkable contributions of our colleagues through the Rice Staff Excellence Award,” said Avery Ruxer Franklin, chair of Staff Council. “We encourage everyone to take a moment to nominate a co-worker whose dedication, innovation and commitment to our shared values embody the very best of our community.”

Award recipients will be announced by early April and will be recognized at the annual President’s staff recognition event this spring. Each recipient will receive a $1,000 monetary award in honor of their outstanding service.
