U.S. Rep. Brian Babin (R-Woodville) will explore critical topics in U.S. science and innovation policy to ensure America remains the global leader in emerging technologies and scientific advancement at an Aug. 27 event hosted by Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy.
Babin, who represents Texas’ 36th Congressional District, chairs the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, where he plays a key role in shaping U.S. space policy and supporting NASA’s Johnson Space Center, located in his district. He also serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, advocating for the region’s vital ports, highways and energy infrastructure.
The conversation will cover a variety of topics, including Babin’s priorities as science committee chairman, how changes to federal funding and policy affect scientific research and development and how these changes will impact U.S. innovation in an increasingly competitive global environment.
