Q: How long have you worked at Rice?

A: 14 lucky years.

Q: What is your favorite part about working for the university?

A: My favorite thing is being part of a group of people who can create so much positivity.

Q: What do you want people to know about living in Houston?

A: Houston is a place that promotes creativity and kindness. We also know how to open doors for people and hustle to make things work.

Q: What do you do in your down time?

A: I like to spend time with my family, exercise and be outside working on home projects.

Q: What’s your favorite spot on campus to show to someone?

A: There are too many to list! Just a few: any athletics events, a sunrise or sunset at Lovett Hall, the Turrell Skyspace or any of our public art pieces, a Shepherd School of Music concert and the Larry McMurtry section in Fondren Library.

Q: What’s the most exciting time of year for you as it relates to Rice?

A: I love Rice in the spring, especially the azalea path near the main entrance.

Q: What’s the one thing that makes Rice special to you?

A: Rice is special because of the buildings and the people that live and work in the buildings.

Q: If you could be Sammy The Owl for a day, what would you do?

A: I would head across campus handing out cookies and free t-shirts.

Q: How would you describe your experience as a Rice employee?

A: It’s challenging and busy, but the majority of the time, it is worth it.

Q: Where do you see Rice in 25 years?

A: I see Rice continuing to foster high achieving, yet still humble, academics and research.

Q: Describe Rice in four words or less.

A: Best place in Houston.

Q: What else have we not talked about yet that merits discussion?

A: Working at a university is such a great thing; what other job do you wear your company’s logo on the weekend and feel proud about it? I’m lucky to be at Rice and love working with our students, faculty and staff.
