As Rice University prepares to celebrate the Class of 2025 at commencement May 9-10, Rice News is spotlighting a collection of standout graduates.
Jae Kim arrived in New York from South Korea at age 10, but he says it was his time at Rice that shaped his future. Now a senior majoring in integrative biology and minoring in environmental studies, he has earned a Rhodes Scholarship to attend Oxford University. There, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in environmental change followed by a master’s in public policy.
In the long term, Kim aims to practice medicine while promoting environmental justice through policy initiatives and global advocacy. “I want to have that physician training and network,” he said. “I want to do more policy, advocacy and global skill work as well.”
