
Rice University Athletics recently welcomed Matvii Bidnyi, Ukraine’s acting minister of youth and sports, along with a delegation of Ukrainian sports leaders to campus as part of their U.S. visit.
The Ukrainian delegation toured Tudor Fieldhouse, the Houston Methodist-Rice Center for Human Performance, Rice Stadium and the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center. Throughout their visit with Rice Athletics representatives, the two parties exchanged ideas on using sports to strengthen community and promote leadership.
“The meeting fostered discussions on sports development, community engagement and international collaboration," said Tommy McClelland, vice president and director of athletics at Rice.
“Sports play a vital role in bringing people together, and we are honored to share our insights with global leaders. This visit highlights the power of athletics to inspire and create connections across cultures.”
