Rice Global India is marking a new chapter in its mission to strengthen academic, research and innovation ties between Rice University and partners across India. After establishing an initial temporary presence at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, the program has now expanded into a dedicated office at WeWork Prestige Central, just minutes from IISc’s campus.
“We are deeply grateful to the IISc for hosting Rice Global India during its formation and helping us establish a strong foundation for our work in India,” said Caroline Levander, Vice President for Global Strategy. “Our new office in Bengaluru allows us to build on that foundation and position ourselves at the crossroads of academia, industry and government. From advancing research collaborations to creating new pathways for student and faculty exchange, we see extraordinary potential in the partnerships to be forged here.”
Since 2020, IISc has played a central role in Rice’s India initiatives, hosting Rice Global India’s activities and providing a gateway to collaborations with leading faculty and researchers. That partnership has grown alongside other key relationships including agreements with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and the creation of the Energy Materials Institute.
The new space located in the heart of Bengaluru at 36 Infantry Road builds on those foundations. Its central location offers quick access to universities, business districts, government offices and the city’s thriving technology sector, home to startups, multinational firms and R&D centers. The office is also just 35 minutes from the airport, supporting seamless visits from Rice faculty, students and collaborators, who will be welcomed by Rice Global India’s in-country director, Sreya Ghose.
As part of the WeWork community, which is also home to other headquarters such as John Deere, Rice Global India will have access to shared facilities designed for seminars, workshops and networking events bringing together academic, industry and government partners in one collaborative environment.
