Various groups from Rice University decided to get into the Halloween, aka Owl-oween, spirit this year with spooky costume contests and festivities.
The Office of Alumni Relations hosted “Haunted Huff,” in reference to its administrative building, the Peter and Nancy Huff House. It brought together undergraduate and graduate students to enjoy cookie decorating, a scavenger hunt, a “Fear Factor” challenge and toilet paper mummy contest while enjoying free pizza and candy. Haunted Huff welcomed a record 236 students.
The Division of Operations, Finance and Support likewise hosted an employee costume contest over the course of two days, which brought everything from a bank robber to Harry Potter.
Other groups around campus also found ways to celebrate throughout the week, like the faculty services department at Rice Business as well as participants at Wellness Wednesday.
