The American Red Cross estimates that every two seconds someone in the United States is in need of blood. Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses and traumatic injuries.
Recognizing the crucial role of blood donations, Rice University Emergency Medical Services answered the call for this necessity by hosting a campus blood drive July 12 at Rice Stadium.
The drive was held in conjunction with Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary of saving and sustaining lives.
