Rice University’s Moody Center for the Arts welcomed enthusiastic arts and music lovers for a Pride Month happy hour on the afternoon of June 26, which featured renditions of pop favorites by Pride Chorus Houston and tunes from DJ Krazzy Kris.

The chorus provided a soundtrack from LGBTQ artists, including Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” Culture Club’s “Karma Chameleon” and Indigo Girls’ “Closer to Fine.”

“Throughout the year, the Moody’s programming aims to create bridges between Rice’s campus and the Greater Houston community,” said Alison Weaver, the Suzanne Deal Booth executive director of the Moody Center. “This month, collaborating with Pride Chorus Houston and DJ Krazzy Kris to realize our annual Pride Happy Hour, the Moody was able to foster connections and celebrate the many voices that make Houston and Rice University special.”

At the gallery, guests also enjoyed complimentary drinks and after-hours access to the galleries. Exhibits currently on display include “Figurative Histories” by Letitia Huckaby, Earlie Hudnall Jr., David McGee and Delita Martin; “Clément Cogitore: Collective Memories”; “Off the Wall: Karyn Olivier”; and “The Reading Room.”
