Members of the media are invited to attend the Innovation for Healthcare Access Conference, a two-day event Oct. 27-28 focused on promoting innovative solutions for high-priority unmet needs in health care.
The conference will specifically address challenges related to maternal and newborn health and chronic disease care, focusing particularly on implementation in Texas and the United States.
WHO: The event is organized by the Rice360 Institute for Global Health Technologies, a leader in health technology research, implementation and education at Rice University known for its focus on collaborative medical device innovation. Attendees and collaborators will include researchers from Rice and the Texas Medical Center, nonprofit organizations, health care providers and state and national policymakers.
WHAT: The Innovation for Healthcare Access Conference will feature an exciting lineup of globally renowned leaders and representatives from key stakeholder organizations who will share experiences, innovations and opportunities to expand access to health care in underserved communities. The event will foster collaboration to support initiatives aimed at transitioning technology-based health care solutions from conceptual development to effective implementation, particularly in resource-constrained settings.
Core priorities of the conference include:
- Highlighting current efforts to design and develop innovations that address unmet health care needs in underserved communities.
- Examining global case studies of technology-based health care solutions that were successfully put into practice.
- Exploring local pathways to transition innovations from global settings to implementation in underserved communities in Texas and the U.S.
- Identifying and building collaborations necessary to address high-priority unmet health care needs for maternal and newborn health and chronic disease care in Texas and the U.S.
