Rice University will serve as a voting location on Election Day Tuesday. Classes will be in session that day, and the university will have an on-campus voting site in the Rice Welcome Center in Sewall Hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
For election information and to preprint a sample ballot to carry into the polling location as a memory aid, please visit HarrisVotes.org. State law prohibits the use of cell phones when voting.
Due to recent changes in the interpretation of Texas voting procedures, registered Harris County voters who do not have Texas driver’s licenses or state-issued Texas IDs are reminded that the easiest way to vote is to present a U.S. passport or other acceptable form of ID at their voting center of choice. Rice students who possess out-of-state driver’s licenses should present those government-issued photo IDs at their polling site, then request and complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration (RID).
From now through Election Day, Rice Votes and Rice’s Kelley Center for Government Information are sponsoring voter information tables in the west lobby of Fondren Library near the circulation desk. Free voting information is available at these tables during all library hours.
Rice community members may also directly contact the Kelly Center (Anna Xiong, govhelp@rice.edu) and Rice Votes (Verónica Reyna, vr33@rice.edu) for more information.
