Q: How long have you worked at Rice?
A: October marked one year.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for the university?
A: The ability to connect with other staff and faculty across different departments who are passionate about what they do.
Q: What do you want people to know about living in Houston?
A: I love Houston, but it’s hot! Be ready to sweat when in Houston.
Q: What do you do in your downtime?
A: I spend most of my downtime in the kitchen cooking and baking or in a cozy spot reading a good book. When I want to relax, I turn on “Gilmore Girls” or “Elementary.”
Q: What’s your favorite spot on campus to show someone?
A: I love showing people our moon rock in Fondren Library.
Q: What’s the most exciting time of year for you as it relates to Rice?

Q: What’s the one thing that makes Rice special to you?
A: Rice is special to me in many ways, but what stands out to me most is the continued support and motivation to pursue lifelong learning from my team in Rice administration.
Q: If you could be Sammy The Owl for a day, what would you do?
A: It seems incredibly hot to be Sammy The Owl, so I would do a series of appearances in the coldest buildings across campus. I may also attempt (probably unsuccessfully) to blend in at Dandelion Café, while eating there and sipping their amazing frozen lemonade.
Q: How would you describe your experience as a Rice employee?
A: My experience at Rice has been life-changing, and I’m not using that term loosely. Since starting my role at Rice, I have found new passions, developed new friends and professional relationships and learned so many new skills. Rice has permanently shifted my life’s path for the better. I came in thinking I knew what I wanted to do with my life, but Rice has fine-tuned my thoughts and turned them into specific and attainable goals.
Q: Where do you see Rice in 25 years?
A: I see Rice continuing to become more progressive and inclusive. Rice has grown as an institution greatly over the past 25 years. I’m expecting even more positive change in the next 25 years.
Q: Describe Rice in four words or less.
A: Passion, driven, forward movement.
Q: What else have we not talked about yet that merits discussion?
A: I am an associate at Hanszen College, the best college on campus! I am also currently pursuing my Master of Library and Information Science in hopes of becoming a subject specialist. I hope to continue to be a resource for the Rice community.
