Q: How long have you worked at Rice?
A: Six years.
Q: What is your favorite part about working for the university?
A: All the trees and critters on campus, the Moody Center for the Arts exhibits and other campus art installations, baseball and football!
Q: What do you want people to know about living in Houston?
A: Embrace the humidity. It’s good for your wrinkles.
Q: What do you do in your downtime?
A: I am a human remains detection canine handler with Alpha Search and Recovery. We are a nonprofit organization that assists local, state and federal agencies in the search for missing persons in the greater Houston area. My spare time is pretty limited, so when I’m not training with my team, I’m usually gardening.
Q: What’s your favorite spot on campus to show someone?
A: Top of the Cambridge Office parking garage has one of the best views of the city. Also, the holistic garden.
Q: What’s the most exciting time of year for you as it relates to Rice?
A: Alumni Weekend is fun, everyone is excited and there are a lot of great events planned.
Q: What’s the one thing that makes Rice special to you?
A: Everyone in our division. I work with some amazing people.
Q: If you could be Sammy The Owl for a day, what would you do?
A: I would absolutely heckle (politely) the opposing team at a baseball game.
Q: How would you describe your experience as a Rice employee?
A: Fortunate. I have been able to work on many special projects for our division, faculty and the university.

A: Continuing to help the world be a better place.
