Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music is set to bring holiday magic to Houston with its annual “Spirit of the Season” concert Dec. 7 in Morrison Theater at Brockman Hall for Opera. This Houston holiday tradition promises an evening filled with festive music, showcasing selections from opera, musical theater and holiday classics performed by the Shepherd School’s talented voice and instrumental students.

This year’s celebration will be uniquely enhanced by Shepherd School alumnus and leading Broadway music director, Andy Einhorn ’04. Known for his work on Broadway hits like “Hello, Dolly!” and “Carousel,” Einhorn brings his expertise and acclaimed musical direction back to his alma mater, curating the repertoire of this seasonal concert and crafting a special evening of light classics and engaging musical moments.

“Andy’s work with legends like Bette Midler and Audra McDonald on Broadway and his collaborations with renowned orchestras around the world bring a truly special energy to this year’s program,” said Shepherd School Dean Matthew Loden.

Guests are invited to enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and holiday cookies in the Grand Foyer starting at 6:30 p.m. with the hourlong concert following at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $35 and are available now.
