Psychological Methods is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the American Psychological Association. It was established in 1996 and focuses on the development and dissemination of methods for collecting, analyzing, understanding and interpreting psychological data.

“Psychological methods are a process, not just a procedure or an outcome,” Oswald said. “As the incoming editor, I am excited to build an editorial team to strengthen this process by cultivating inclusive scientific conversations and communities around developing, applying and interpreting psychological methods. Exciting new opportunities lie ahead for the journal in areas such as AI, machine learning and open science.”

Oswald is a prolific researcher who studies workforce readiness, quantitative methods (including meta-analysis, psychometrics and big data) and artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in the context of organizational and workforce research. He is a member of the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee, current chair of the National Academy of Science Board on Human Systems Integration, former chair of the APA Board of Scientific Affairs and former chair of the APA Committee on Psychological Tests and Assessment. He served as president of the Society of Industrial-Organizational Psychology from 2017-18 and has served in numerous other journal editorial roles.
