Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music invites families to join in for an unforgettable musical experience at its annual family concert, “Musical Stories,” at 11 a.m. March 23 in Alice Pratt Brown’s Stude Concert Hall.
The yearly event offers families the chance to meet musicians and see concert instruments up close prior to the family-friendly performance. Instrument demonstrations and meet-and-greets with musicians will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the 55-minute concert at 11 a.m.
Listeners will go on a journey through exotic soundscapes as the Shepherd School Symphony Orchestra performs selections from Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade,” inspired by tales from “One Thousand and One Nights.” Andrew Grams will lead the orchestra.
