The latest edition features stories on Rice’s new university historian, Portia Hopkins; new director for the Center of African and African American Studies, Sherwin BryantNanoAcademy workshops designed to spark interest in young learners by immersing them in lessons focused on merging nanotechnology and sustainability; a new summer course where Rice Students traveled to Barcelona, Spain, to explore new ways to transform communities worldwide; the Rice Architecture Summer Immersion program, which aims to diversify the field of architecture by providing opportunities to underserved high school students from the Houston community; and much more.

“All these stories reflect how much Rice University is engaged with the communities of Houston and how Rice seeks to improve the lives of all people, especially the underserved, by preparing them for college and offering opportunities for them to find a career and achieve their dreams,” said David Medina, director of multicultural community relations.
