Faculty and staff at Rice University will have a chance to get an in-depth look at student athletes outside of the classroom during the Rice football faculty and staff appreciation event Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Rice faculty and staff and their families are welcome to join the festivities at the Brian Patterson Sports Performance Center next to Rice Stadium.
Participants will enjoy a presentation by the Rice football recruiting staff in the team room, where team representatives will discuss what they look for when recruiting future Owls and break down a day in the life of a Rice football player.
Following the presentation, everyone will be invited to the field to watch the Owls practice.
“This is a great opportunity for the Rice athletic department to engage all of the incredible faculty and staff around the university and for them to get an in-depth look at our student athletes outside of the classroom,” said Eric George, assistant vice president and deputy athletic director.
“Our student athletes excel academically, but few truly understand the time and effort it takes to be a student athlete at Rice. This behind-the-scenes look will be a great way to further strengthen the connection between our world-class faculty and staff and our phenomenal student athletes.”
