The Workforce for AI Trust Act is one of nine bipartisan bills approved by voice vote last week in the United States House Committee on Science, Space and Technology tackling a broad range of issues relating to artificial intelligence (AI).
Rice University’s Fred Oswald is available to comment on the bill, which aims “to facilitate a workforce of trained experts to build trustworthy AI systems.” Oswald’s expertise in workforce development and the assessment of benefits and risks associated with the deployment of AI tools and technologies in the workforce is directly relevant to the bill.
Oswald, the Herbert S. Autrey Professor of Psychological Sciences and chair in social sciences at Rice University a professor of industrial-organizational psychology at Rice, serves as chair of the Board on Human-Systems Integration (BOHSI) at the National Academy of Sciences and is a member of the National Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee (NAIAC), which advises the White House on AI matters of national importance.
