“As you may recall, Paula and I held our first Stride Out Stress walk/run for faculty and staff April 26,” said Rice University President Reginald DesRoches. “Wellness Wednesdays is a continuation of that effort and will provide faculty and staff with a monthly opportunity to get together, recreate and rejuvenate.”

The inaugural Wellness Wednesday will be held from 12:15-1 p.m. June 26 in the Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center’s Multi-Activity Court. Elmer Whitehead with Facilities and Capital Planning will lead a 30-minute beginner tai chi wellness experience, practicing controlled breathing, gentle stretches and a mini-series of slow-paced standing postures. No Recreation Center membership is required, no experience is necessary, equipment will be provided and early arrival is recommended.

Subsequent events will be held on the following Wednesdays. Announcements about the events will be sent out a week in advance or sooner.
