Rice University’s Susanne M. Glasscock School of Continuing Studies, celebrating 50 years of offering personal development courses, has released its course guide for fall 2024. The in-person and online offerings from the Community Learning and Engagement program include a broad range of topics such as personal finance, creative writing, global birding, painting and more. The short courses, open to the public, start at various dates throughout the fall.

“Learning simply for the love of it is fundamental to who we are as a school,” said Robert Bruce, dean of continuing studies. “And continuing to learn is fundamental to individual and community growth.

“For 50 years now, we have offered opportunities for ever-curious learners to pursue their lifelong passion for knowledge through Rice University — five decades of creating community connections through Rice, of facilitating learning opportunities and of creating avenues to become actively engaged. That’s what Community Learning and Engagement is all about, and I’m as excited about the next 50 years as I am thankful for the previous 50.”
