Friends of Fondren Library honored Rice University authors, editors, composers and artists of works published in 2023 during its annual celebration event Jan. 17.
Peter C. Caldwell, the Samuel G. McCann Professor of History, and Julie Fette, associate professor in the Department of Modern and Classical Literatures and Cultures, hosted the celebratory gathering that recognized all 2023 honorees.
“This is one of my favorite events at Rice,” Caldwell told the attendees in the library’s Kyle Morrow Room. “We professors spend so much time teaching, grading, managing programs and hopefully doing our own research that we hardly ever have the time to slow down and enjoy what others are doing at the university. I for one love the opportunity to look over all the great ideas being produced and to engage my colleagues in a discussion about their work.
“And what better place to have this discussion than in a forum organized by the Friends of Fondren, by the alumni and community members who value our library as the beating heart of the university?”
